Alex Dobkowski

Alex Dobkowski graduated from State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, at Syracuse University in June, 1974 and joined Weyerhaeuser Company in July, 1974. Worked at the Weyerhaeuser Research Center, Centralia, WA from 1974-1982 and with Weyerhaeuser Western Timberlands – Longview, WA from 1983-2001. His office location since 2001 is the Weyerhaeuser Research Center, Centralia, WA.

Roles and responsibilities within Weyerhaeuser Company included the following:

  1. Applied research in forest nutrition and silviculture from 1974 to the present.
  2. Technology Transfer to forestry operations from 1982 to the present.
  3. Regeneration Technology – Mt. St. Helens Blast-Zone, 1982-1986.
  4. Team leader for the operational implementation of red alder management from 1990 to 2000.
  5. Principal investigator for red alder silviculture research from 1986 to the present.
